22 Clean-up Instructions
- All liquids containing bacteria must be poured into a beaker for bleach decontamination (can be found on the blue bench paper by this sink labeled “liquid”).
- All bacterial growth plates can be thrown away in the biohazard trash
- Return all reusable materials to our storage drawers.
- Wipe down all surfaces with Conflikt and then ethanol.
- Remove PPE.
- Wash hands.

Bacterial cell wall composition. Gram-negative bacteria have an outer lipid bilayer membrane and a thin peptidoglycan cell wall, whereas Gram-positive bacteria have no outer lipid membrane and a thick peptidoglycan cell wall. Initially, both types of bacteria take up the crystal violet stain, but only Gram-positive bacteria retain the dye during the destaining process. Image created with BioRender.com.
