3 Directional Leading
Forward Movement: The leader should lean into their partner with their upper body, as the right arm is slightly elevated.
Backward Movement: The leader leans back while exerting pressure with the right hand to draw the partner towards the leader.
Sideward Movement: When moving to the right in the desired direction, the leader should press the heel of the right hand to the left and pull with the fingers.
Box Step: Start with a forward lean, then gently pull to the right to complete the first half of the box. The leader then guides the partner towards them, followed by applying pressure with the heel of the right hand to the left.
Box Turn: Pull to the left with the left arm while lifting the right elbow and rotating to move forward. Then, move backward by drawing back with the upper body during the backward step.
Hesitation Step: The leader leans forward on the front foot, maintaining slight body tension, and places a firm right hand on their partner’s back to assume the hold position, then pulls back.
Rock Step: The leader slightly dips the left shoulder while stepping to the left with the left foot, then repeats the process with the right shoulder, stepping to the right with the right foot.
Underarm Turns (Break): The leader raises their left arm and gently pushes the follower with the fingers of their right hand to guide the follower’s clockwise turn. To perform a counterclockwise turn, the leader simultaneously pulls the follower’s right arm across in front of their body while lifting the arm above head level.
