Annotation in Pressbooks

Pressbooks is a new platform the anatomy team is using for 2024 to replace our PDF dissection guides. While this platform has many benefits over our previous format, one drawback we have heard from the TA’s has been the lack of annotation.

Pressbooks has a plugin called “Hypothes.is” that allows text annotation that you must make an account for.

You can use Hypothes.is to either make private notes, or create a group that everyone in your lab team can contribute to.

To open Hypothes.is, click the arrow at the top right of the screen.

Making a team “group” for annotating together.

The default setting for Hypothes.is is to comment publicly. You have the option to comment just for yourself to see, or make a group and invite your team members.

Making an annotation

As this is a new platform for us, we aren’t sure if this will be the best option. Please let us know if you either like Hypothes.is, or find another option you prefer.
