Many textbook diagrams have contributed to the creation of this guide, and we provide a copy of many of these textbooks per group of 25 students. Here is a brief overview of the ones you may find most helpful to flip through in lab:

“Little Miller’s”

Guide to the Dissection of the Dog was formerly the course dissection guide before transitioning to a digital medium. Most of the canine diagrams come from this source.

“Big Miller’s”

If “Little Miller’s” is the quick reference, Miller and Evans’ Anatomy of the Dog is the complete reference.

Atlas of Feline Anatomy for Veterinarians

A staple of cat anatomy written by NCSU Professor Emerita Dr. Lola Hudson.

A Guided Tour of Veterinary Anatomy

This book, written by NCSU Professor Emeritus Smallwood was formerly the ungulate dissection guide. Many of our ungulate diagrams are sourced from this textbook. Dr. Smallwood has graciously provided free access to digital copies of his textbook through the NCSU library. Written in a casual style, with conversational asides -if a textbook can ever be described as “fun”, this is it.

Guide to Dissection of the Horse and Ruminants

Straightforward diagrams of the horse, ox and goat.

Guide to Ruminant Anatomy: Dissection and Clinical Aspects

This textbook gives a nice mixture of diagrams and dissection photos of ruminants. Auburn wrote this for use as their dissection guide.

Color Atlas of Veterinary Anatomy

Excellent sources of dissection photos.
