Lab 6A: Lower Respiratory Tract – Imaging Anatomy
Learning Objectives
- List and label the views of the thorax.
- List and label the diagnostic imaging anatomy of the lower respiratory tract including the trachea, lung lobes, and bronchi.
- List and label the diagnostic imaging anatomy of the mediastinal space including the thymus, lymph nodes, thoracic duct, and esophagus.
Lab Instructions:
The entire class attends this mandatory session in D-239. A diagnostic imaging specialist will present on imaging of the lower respiratory tract, with a focus on radiology. The standard views obtained and identification of normal anatomical structures on each view will be considered. Case based application of imaging anatomy is incorporated into the session, allowing the learner an opportunity to recognize normal from abnormal imaging anatomy in the context of clinical presentations.
Learning outcomes for this lab will be assessed in a summative written assessment.
