Section 1: Upper Respiratory Tract (URT)
This section will consider the Nose, Nasal Cavity, Nasopharynx, Larynx, Paranasal sinuses, Guttural Pouch of the horse, and the cervical part of the Trachea.
The cadaver heads (previously removed from the body and skin reflected) have been sectioned on midline. Study of these specimens and a little dissection allows for ready visualization of upper respiratory tract anatomy. The first two labs will be focused around the carnivore, with comparative ungulate anatomy described. The third lab of this section will allow dedicated time to learning the more complicated and unique features of the ungulate URT. The 4th lab will cover imaging anatomy of the URT.
