Backward Design

A planning framework that begins with identifying the desired learning outcomes for students, rather than starting with the content or activities.

Durable Intellectual Assets

Learner-created or co-created works that align with the course learning objectives and promote the contribution of intellectual resources that can be used beyond the length of the course

eco-anxiety

a state of distress and worry about the future of the planet and its environment, particularly due to climate change. Often described as a chronic fear of environmental doom

Jamboard

Jamboard was a digital interactive whiteboard developed by Google to work with Google Workspace, formerly known as G Suite. Jamboard was discontinued on January 1, 2025. Popular alternatives to Jamboard include Miro, Lucidspark, FigJam, Microsoft Whiteboard, and Zoom Whiteboard.

Scaffold

To divide a larger task into more reasonable steps/tasks/milestones for learners to build toward a challenging assignment.

service learning

a form of experiential learning that integrates community service with course materials.  Students engage in service projects that address real community needs while simultaneously enhancing their understanding of course content through a combination of reflection and structured learning.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an approach that aims to remove barriers to learning and access. UDL is based on the idea that all learners should have opportunities to succeed.
