Contributor Agreement

Katya Mueller and David Tully

We welcome contributions from all NC State faculty who have undertaken open education projects to help build and expand this community Pressbook.

By submitting your work, you agree to the following:

  • Originality and Attribution: Your contribution is your original work or appropriately adapted from other openly licensed sources. You will provide full attribution for any remixed or reused content, in accordance with the original licenses. Faculty members are free to use GenAI in their ideating and brainstorming phases, but we ask that all written content present in this book be human-generated, and unassisted by GenAI tools. Please refer to our GenAI page for the full policy.

  • Open Licensing: You agree to license your contribution under a Creative Commons license, allowing others to reuse, revise, and redistribute your work with attribution. You may choose a Creative Commons license that aligns with your values and the nature of your content. The entire book is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA. While we recommend the license for your contribution to also be CC BY-NC-SA, you are welcome to choose a different Creative Commons license for your section—except for those with a NoDerivatives (ND) restriction. Content with an ‘All Rights Reserved’ designation cannot be included. Please refer to our CC Licenses chapter for a more in-depth explanation.

  • Accessibility and Inclusion: You agree to follow the accessibility and formatting guidelines provided in the contributor style guide, to ensure that your content is usable by the widest possible audience. Please refer to our chapters on organizing content, H5P integrations, and using images.

  • Collaboration and Editing: You are open to editorial suggestions and collaboration from the editorial team to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with the overall structure and goals of the textbook.

  • Representation and Respect: You strive to represent your subject matter thoughtfully, and in a way that is inclusive and respectful of different perspectives, identities, and lived experiences.

If you have any questions about this statement or your contribution, please contact the editorial team at the Open Knowledge Center webform.
