Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, students will be able to:

  • Describe the five components of health-related fitness and six skill-related components of fitness.
  • Outline the training principles of specificity, overload, progression, reversibility, and individuality.
  • Identify the FIIT principles for the five components of health-related fitness.
  • Identify the major muscle groups in the body.
  • Explain the benefits of and how to use various training systems.
  • Apply the fundamentals of fitness to develop, maintain, and sustain an active and healthy lifestyle.
